Poem

Dawn of the Night… …Dark of the Day

Dawn of the Night Dark of the Day

Dawn of the night
Dark of the day
Death of the body
Rotting away
Death of the soul
Agonizing pain
Losing self
Enemy’s gain

Bones without flesh
Body without breath
Scattered to the winds
Life rescinds

Dark of the night
Dawn of the day
Death flees the body
Dig up the grave
Resurrected soul
No more stains
Finding self
Enemy’s pain

Bones collect flesh
Soul receives breath
Holistic health
Timeless wealth

This poem was written in response to The Reverie’s weekly prompt, which is the song, “Bones”, by MsMr.  As soon as I heard the song I fell in love with it. I knew I couldn’t let this one pass, so here it is.

Would love to know your interpretation hmmmmmm……

Connected Endearment

connected endearment

Love
beyond
imagination

our souls rhyme
in the fullness of time
ignited by the sparks of Grace

my reason for living
my nourishment
my breath

when famished
when gasping
You are my base

solace of beneficial
rains falling on
suspended gardens

confidence
that nothing
can efface

when eternity is home
and unearthly treasures
are finally known

revealed
as I’m encompassed
in Your embrace

and I turn my face
towards Your light
I cease to wander

I pray

Connection

Connection - Ryan McGuire of Bells Design.jpg

Lover of my soul
Will you listen to me
I know you will
My spirit you see
My heart you touch
My soul you shape
My being is yours
I’m here, please take
Me away to that secret place
Where we connect

Do you long for real relationships? Not the fluff ones, which have no real soul or depth.  The superficial ones where you talk about nothing and they don’t have an impact on your life.  Do you long for relationships where you truly sense there’s a connection? I do.

Connectivity.  It’s what we, human beings long for.  It’s what we were made for.  Relationships.

This poem was written for the one I have the deepest and most profound relationship with.  Do you have a relationship like that with anyone? Is there anyone you can share your innermost secrets with? If not, do you long for that type of connection?

A Human Being – Haiku

Human Being.jpg

A human being
Poetry in the making
Each word penned with thought

A human being
Fine musical orchestra
The conductor leads

A human being
Not complicated machine
Spirit, soul, body

Have you ever thought about what it means to be a human being? Considered the differences there are between humans and other creatures? Do you think we’re special in some way? Just a bit of food for thought as we go into our weekend.

This is my first Haiku poem.  I’m new to writing, especially poetry.  I know I’m not that seasoned yet, but I’m really wanting to branch out and grow.  I would appreciate any feedback or advice that you may have for me :-). So many of you are such eloquent poets and writers, and I admire the beauty that I read in your work.  Your words to me will not be taken lightly.
